Hardware Design Engineer – Internship

AtmoSense, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hardware Design Engineer Intern to join our dynamic R&D team. This internship offers an exceptional opportunity for hands-on experience in cutting-edge electronics design and development within the fast-evolving field of environmental and industrial sensing technologies.

As an intern, you will contribute directly to the design, prototyping, and validation of electronic systems for internal R&D as well as production-ready hardware. Your work will play a critical role in advancing AtmoSense’s proprietary MEMS-based sensor platform and IoT solutions. This position provides a unique launchpad for aspiring engineers, offering rich opportunities for technical learning, professional growth, and the potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, simulate, and validate analog, digital, and mixed- signal circuits.
  • Assist in schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Eagle, Allegro, Multisim, or similar platforms.
  • Support the integration of sensors and microcontrollers into functional hardware prototypes.
  • Apply signal processing techniques across analog, digital, and RF domains.
  • Participate in system testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Contribute to the transition of R&D prototypes into scalable, production-ready designs.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on coursework or project experience in PCB and hardware design is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with PCB design software tools (Eagle, Allegro, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems programming in C, C++, Python, or Assembly is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IoT-based systems and sensor integration is a strong advantage.
